Grant Junghans and the Shop Quik Racing team took on the USMTS in the MVT Gulf Coast Border Region finale this past weekend, March 6-8.
The three-day 21st Annual Winter Meltdown at the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M., saw rain and cold weather push the vent back one day.
In Friday’s opener, Junghans started ninth and wound up 11th in the 30-lap main event.
Making the redraw on Saturday after a dominating performance in his heat race, Junghans was the victim of an out-of-control racecar ahead of him, and was knocked out of the race before he could even complete a lap.
Another good run on Sunday netted starting spot of fourth. After 50 laps in the desert, Junghans went home with a seventh-place finish and took tenth in the final regional points standings.
