Grant Junghans Finds Victory Lane at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

After a podium finish during the opening night of the UMP DIRTcar Modified Silver State DIRTcar Championship on Friday, Grant Junghans emerged triumphant in the 20-lap Feature on Saturday, November 21.

Night 1: After making the elite field during the 'Duel in the Desert' the weekend prior, Grant returned to the Dirt Track in competitive form. Junghans rallied from the second to last starting spot in his heat race to finish second place, and ended the night with a third place finish in the night's feature.

Night 2: The first-ever weekend of UMP DIRTcar Modified racing at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway ended with a command performance. Junghans, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Nov. 17, chased polesitter Brad Pounds, who pulled double-duty all weekend, until grabbing the lead on lap 15. The Midwesterner slipped inside Pounds entering turn one and was ahead for good by the backstretch. After the race's lone caution flag came out on lap 23, Junghans drove away from the pack to beat fourth-starter Stormy Scott of Las Cruces, N.M., by a comfortable margin of 2.170 seconds.
