Grant Junghans Starts 2010 Season With Four Top 15 Finishes From 'Wild West Shootout'

Saturday, January 9: Grant Junghans had a tough start to his first ever double duty weekend when motor problems and transmission issues plagued his practice sessions Friday night, but he rebounded on Saturday by leading all eight laps en route to the Modified heat race number 2 victory. Grant's Dirt Late Model debut was not as victorious, but instead a learning experience as he failed to crack the top five in the first heat race and missed the transfer into the nights feature after finishing 7th from the 14th position. In the Modified feature, front row starter Darrell Nelson got turned on the first lap to trigger a multi car crash that left both Chase Junghans and 5th place starter Grant Junghans in need of attention in the work area. Both Junghans were able to return to the action at the rear of the field. Grant retired early with power steering problems.

Sunday, January 10:
Bad luck continued to find Grant Junghans for night two of the Wild West Shootout. Once again, the second night out in a late model was valuable on track experience, but Grant was shy of the transfer spot in the B Main. In the Modified, Grant was unable to transfer to the feature through his heat race, as power steering problems continued. After starting towards the rear of the B-Main, Junghans rocketed through the field and was racing for the second position with less then a hand full of laps remaining when he ran off the race track. Grant returned and fought for position, but was unable to capitalize with few laps remaining.

Wednesday, January 13: Grant fought through the B Main to a 20th starting spot in the nights feature. He advanced 7 positions in 25 laps to finish 13th.

Saturday, January 16th: With two nights left of the week in Tucson and a high 52 modifieds entered, Grant finished a week high 11th after starting 23rd.

Sunday, January 17th: Grant finished 12th in the Wild West Shootout finale Sunday evening.
